Philosophy Department of Moridhal College was started in the year 1989. The department initially started to offer programme of teaching philosophy in both HS & UG levels. From the session 1995- 96 the department had introduced Philosophy as a major subject under Dibrugarh University. Since its inception the department has been attempting to extend the knowledge of philosophical concepts with clarity. Though the department began with non- CBCS mode in UG level, it was converted to CBCS mode in 2019 with the inclusion of new interesting areas of philosophy. The department has three dedicated and laborious associate professors to meet the challenges faced by the students in this domain.

• Remedial coaching for poor learners
• Financial assistance to the poor students to buy books
• The department has invited subject expert to deliver special lecture periodically.

ACTIVITIES OF DEPARTMENT (PHILOSOPHY)

• Before new session induction programme is arranged.
• Lectures and tutorial classes are done regularly as per schedule.
• Besides doing regular classes the department also arrange seminar and group discussion among students to enhance learners’ mental ability and help them to develop understanding and reasoning skills.
• The department celebrates and observes important days, viz. World Philosophy Day, Teacher’s Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Universal Brotherhood day etc. by organizing essay writing competition, speech competition, etc. among students.
• On 5th September, every year we publish departmental wall magazine the “Unmesh”.
• The faculties of the department are in regular contact with the students and provide special guidance for the upliftment of moral behaviour.
• The faculties have active involvement in different non- scholastic activities in the college too.
• The faculties attend conferences, seminars, workshops, etc. for skill development conveniently.
