The Department of Zoology, Moridhal College was established in 2006 with a limited number of faculties and facilities. In the same year the Higher Secondary course was implemented in the department. The General Course and Major Course (Dibrugarh University) of under graduate level (UG) was introduced in 2009. The department got government concurrence in 2010 and got provincialized in 2023 under the state government. During the last 18 years, the department has made all round progress and acquired a position among the leading departments of Moridhal College and other colleges of the district Dhemaji. It offers major papers of Zoology on subjects like Genetics, Endocrinology and Reproductive Physiology, Molecular Cell Biology and Immunology, Biochemical Adaptation and Metabolic Regulation, Developmental Biology, Fish Biology, Helminth Parasitology etc. Recently the department has implemented the FYUG Programme following NEP-2020 under Dibrugarh University making the students more focused and resilient.

• Besides doing regular classes, the department also completes all the practical classes in stipulated time.
• Online video classes, notes and assignments are given to the students through whatsapp groups and other online plateforms regularly.
• The department has arranged seminar and group discussion from time to time among the students to enhance their mental ability and face the present situation.
• The departmental teachers are also actively involved in different social & non-scholastic activities of the college .
• All the faculty members provide special guidance to the advance learner in addition to remedial classes for the poor learners.
• The faculty members of the department are in regular contact with the student and provides guidance for solving their problems.
• For professional development the faculty members attend seminars, workshop etc. regularly.
