ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The department of Botany, Moridhal college was established in 2006 with an objective to provide education on classical botany. In the same year the secondary and general courses forunder graduate level was introduced. The department started offering B.Sc. honours course from the academic session 2009-2010. The department received government concurrence on 19th May 2009.It got consentfrom Dibrugarh University for both Major and General courses on 7th July 2010.
PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
B.Sc. (Botany)
1. To introduce the students with the rich biodiversity of North east India.
2. To enable the students to explore the potential of plant resources for human welfare and their use in a sustainable way.
3. To develop capabilities of students for critical evaluation of contemporary issues related to environment and nature.
4. To generate skilled human resource for biological entrepreneurship.
PROGRAMME OUTCOMES
The B.Sc. in botany programme aims to produce human resources who at the time of graduation shall be capable to:
1. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of both the theoreticaland applied components of plant science and allied areas of study in a multidisciplinary context.
2. Connect relevant disciplines, and recent trends in biological and contemporary issues, correlate and compare recent developments in various branches of plant science worldwide.
3. Present and express information, thoughts, experiments and results clearly and concisely for effective communication of any issues related to plant and nature.
4. Recognise ethical issues that are pertinent to one's work and pledge not to engage in unethicalbehaviour such as plagiarism, copyright and infringement of intellectual property rights.
5. Utilize Information and Communications Technology (ICT) tools, biological databases and computer and software’s in solving biological problems.
