The Department of Anthropology, Moridhal College was established in 2006. In the same year the secondary level and general course of under graduate level was introduced in 2009. The Major course was started from the session 2009-10. The department has got government concurrence in 19th May 2009 and it got the permission of Dibrugarh University in 7th July 2010 for both Major and General Courses.
